Diaspora filmmakers bring Caribbean literature to life on screen.

Filmmakers from the Caribbean and its diaspora selected published works by Caribbean authors of their choice and created short film adaptations inspired by those pieces.

These adaptations must have been produced after 1st January, 2025.

“Friday Night Lights” – National Selections

Local Lens

Short film pieces produced, co-produced and/or directed by adult filmmakers 18 years or older from the British Virgin Islands, produced after 1st January, 2024.

Short Films – Maximum running time 40 minutes.

Student Smartphone Contest

Shot fully on a smartphone, films must have been produced after 1st January, 2025.

Short films – Maximum running time of 7 minutes

Viral Video Challenge

A 1 minute, 30 second video produced, co-produced and/or directed by adolescent filmmakers from ages 9 to 17 from the British Virgin Islands promoting the territory as a premier destination for anything of choice (vacation, film, business, etc).

Viral video must have been produced after 1st January, 2025.

A single Caribbean literary work, reimagined through the lens of many voices.

Filmmakers selected a published work by a Caribbean author to transform into a compelling short film.

These adaptations must have been produced after 1st January, 2025.

Celebrate Caribbean literature through the cinematic voices of its people—at home and abroad.

Filmmakers from the Caribbean and its diaspora selected a published work by a Caribbean author of their choosing and created a short film adaptation of the chosen piece.
